# Getting started

Part of the Hobbing Help Center: https://www.hobbing.ai/help

What Hobbing is, where it runs, signing up, and picking your first roadmap.

## What is Hobbing?

Hobbing is an AI craft tutor. It turns the projects you keep saving into ones you actually finish: you pick a project (one of ours, or a post you share from Pinterest, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube or a blog) and Hobbing builds a roadmap of small steps toward the finished piece, sized to your level, your time and your budget.

Every step gives you one thing to do and one resource to watch or read. The supply list starts from what you already own, and Daisy, the tutor inside the app, knows which step you are on and can look at a photo of your work.

## Is Hobbing free?

Yes, starting is free and needs no credit card. A free account gets a roadmap's opening stages, the supply list, Daisy, the Home feed and 5 roadmaps made from links. Hobbing Premium unlocks the rest, at $9.99 a month or $49.99 a year on the web in the US, with a 7-day free trial.

Every plan is laid out at https://www.hobbing.ai/pricing, and the Premium questions are answered at https://www.hobbing.ai/help/premium-and-billing.

## Where can I use Hobbing?

In any modern browser at https://app.hobbing.ai, on a phone, a tablet or a computer. The iPhone and Android apps are the same Hobbing in an app, and add what only an app can do, such as sharing a post straight into Hobbing from Instagram, TikTok or Pinterest.

Your account is the same everywhere, so a roadmap you start on your phone is waiting on your computer.

## How do I sign up?

Open https://app.hobbing.ai or the app and tap Sign up. You can use your email address and a password (we send a 6-digit code to confirm the address), or continue with Google. Where it is offered, you can also continue with Apple.

Signing up asks one question first, the year you were born, and then a few welcome questions about your craft, your experience and the time you have. You can change every answer later from Profile.

## Why does Hobbing ask for the year I was born?

Hobbing is for makers aged 13 and up, so we ask before an account is opened. We ask for the year only, not the full date, and we use it for nothing else.

If you signed up with Google or Apple, the app asks the same question the first time you arrive, before anything else opens.

## Which crafts can I learn?

We are starting deep with scrapbooking, alongside roadmaps for watercolor, journaling, crochet and ceramics, with new crafts added regularly. The Roadmaps tab always shows what is on offer today.

A link you share is turned into a roadmap when it teaches a project in one of those crafts. A great sourdough reel is still not ours, so it is turned down rather than turned into a roadmap we cannot back up. See https://www.hobbing.ai/help/roadmaps-from-links#link-refused.

## How do I choose my first roadmap?

Three ways, whichever suits you:

- Browse the Roadmaps tab and open any roadmap to preview it: its stages, what you will make, and what you will need. Search the tab by a project, a material or a craft, and tap "See all" under a shelf to see every roadmap on it.
- Tap "Not sure where to start? Ask Daisy" on the Roadmaps tab. Daisy reads your welcome answers, asks a few questions at most, and suggests one to three roadmaps you can open from the chat.
- Make one from something you already saved: share the post into Hobbing, or paste its link into "Make one from a link".

## Which languages is Hobbing in?

Hobbing comes in English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Greek and Hebrew. Pick yours in Profile, under Preferences, then Language. The menus, the tutorials and Daisy follow it, and so do roadmaps: one you make from a link is written in your language whatever language the post was in, and our own roadmaps are translated the first time you open them.

A few screens are still English only for now, such as sign-in, the paywall and support. Posts and captions written by other people stay in the language they were written in.

## Still need help?

In the app, open Profile and tap Help & support to open a case, and someone on the Hobbing team writes back in the same thread. Or email support@hobbing.ai. Stuck on a step? Daisy, the tutor in the app, knows which step you are on: open it at https://app.hobbing.ai/ and tap "Want a hand?".
