# Making a roadmap from a link

Part of the Hobbing Help Center: https://www.hobbing.ai/help

Turn a Pinterest pin, Instagram reel, TikTok, YouTube video or blog post into a step-by-step roadmap.

## How do I turn a post into a roadmap?

Find the post or video you want to make, then hand it to Hobbing in whichever way suits the device you are on:

- On iPhone: tap Share in the app you are in (Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest, YouTube, Safari), then pick Hobbing. If Hobbing is not in the row, tap More and add it.
- On Android: tap Share, then pick Hobbing from the list of apps.
- On a computer, or anywhere else: copy the post's link (Share, then Copy link), open the Roadmaps tab and paste it into "Make one from a link".
- From the Home feed: tap "Make a roadmap" on any post that has one.

## Which links work?

A YouTube video, an Instagram post or reel, a TikTok, a Pinterest pin, or any public web page, such as a blog tutorial. Hobbing reads the caption, what is said and shown in the video, and the page the creator links to, so a pin that is only a picture and a link is read through to the write-up behind it.

Posts that are private, deleted or only visible when signed in cannot be read. A post that shows how something is made, with the steps in the caption or the video, works best.

## How long does it take?

Usually a minute or two. The sheet shows the post's picture as soon as it is found and ticks through each part as it happens: reading the post, checking it is a craft we teach, writing your steps, finding your supplies and saving the roadmap. When it is ready, the roadmap opens by itself.

A link someone else has already made a roadmap from is quicker, because the plan behind it is reused for you.

## Can I close the sheet while my roadmap is being made?

Yes. It carries on without you, and a card at the top of the Roadmaps tab shows how it is going and opens the roadmap when it is ready. Roadmaps you made from links in the last week sit on a "Just made" shelf at the top of that tab.

If your connection drops while it is being made, nothing is lost: check the Roadmaps tab in a minute.

## Why does it say "Drawing your step pictures"?

Every step of a roadmap made from a link gets a picture of what that step should look like when it is done, drawn for your project. The roadmap opens as soon as its steps are written, and the pictures follow over the next few minutes, landing on each step as it is finished. You can start straight away.

On the free plan, the first two illustrated steps of each roadmap get their pictures, and the rest keep every word with a Premium mark where the picture would be. When you have Premium, the missing pictures are drawn the next time you open the roadmap.

## How many roadmaps can I make from links?

A free account makes 5, and every friend who joins through your invite link and makes a roadmap of their own adds 3 more, for up to 5 friends. Premium makes up to 30 a month, counted from the 1st.

A link that fails costs you nothing, and neither does a rebuild. Deleting a roadmap does not give its place back. Profile shows how many you have left, under Membership.

## Why was my link turned down?

The sheet always says why. The usual reasons, and what to do about each:

- "That doesn't look like a link": paste the link you get from Share, then Copy link, rather than the post's text.
- "We couldn't open that post": it is private, deleted or only visible when signed in. Try a public post, or the page it links to.
- "There wasn't enough to go on": the post says too little about how it is made. Posts with the steps in the caption or the video work best.
- "We didn't find a project in this one": Hobbing builds roadmaps for things you can make. Try a tutorial or a how-to.
- "That craft isn't one we teach yet": we only build roadmaps for the crafts in our catalog. The Roadmaps tab shows them.
- "That's a lot of imports for one hour": give it a little while, then try again.

## My roadmap missed something. Can I fix it?

Yes, you can rebuild it with a note on what was wrong. Tap the thumbs down under "Did we get it right?" at the top of the roadmap, or open your progress (tap the progress bar) and choose "Something missing? Rebuild it".

Tap what was off ("A step is missing", "A supply is missing", "The order is off", "Too hard for a beginner", "Too basic for me", "Not what the post shows"), add your own words if you like, and tap "Rebuild with this". Each roadmap made from a link can be rebuilt three times, and rebuilds do not count toward your roadmaps from links.

If you have not started the roadmap yet, the new version replaces it. If you have finished or skipped a step, the new version is made beside it, so your progress is kept.

## Which language and units will my roadmap be in?

Yours, whatever the post was in. A French pin becomes a roadmap in the language you picked in Profile, and measurements are in your units (centimeters and grams, or inches and ounces). Changing your language later changes the next roadmap you make, not the ones you already have.

Measurements on every roadmap are shown in your units too. See https://www.hobbing.ai/help/account-and-settings#measurements.

## Can other people see the roadmaps I make from links?

No. A roadmap you make from a link is yours alone: it is private and listed nowhere else. You can choose to share it with someone, and they get their own copy. See https://www.hobbing.ai/help/roadmaps-and-steps#share-roadmap.

## Still need help?

In the app, open Profile and tap Help & support to open a case, and someone on the Hobbing team writes back in the same thread. Or email support@hobbing.ai. Stuck on a step? Daisy, the tutor in the app, knows which step you are on: open it at https://app.hobbing.ai/ and tap "Want a hand?".
