Privacy policy
This policy says what data Hobbing collects, why, who processes it for us, and the rights you have over it, including your rights under the GDPR if you are in the EU or UK, and under the CCPA if you are in California.
What we collect
We collect only what the product needs to work:
- Your account: name, email address, and the profile photo you choose to add.
- Your onboarding answers and preferences: hobby, available time, budget, skill level, and optionally your area.
- Your activity: roadmap progress, completed steps, points, the photos and posts you share, and your messages to Daisy.
- Your subscription status: which plan you have and whether it is active. Payment details (card numbers, billing address) are held by Polar, our payment provider, and never reach our servers.
- Usage analytics: which screens and features are used, so we can see what works. Analytics events are tied to your account id, not sold or shared for advertising.
Why we use it
To run the service you signed up for: generating your personalized roadmaps, powering Daisy's answers, tracking your progress, and managing your subscription. Roadmaps and Daisy's replies are generated with AI models, which means your onboarding answers and messages are processed by our AI providers to produce them.
Under the GDPR our legal bases are: performing our contract with you (the service itself), our legitimate interest in understanding and improving the product (analytics), and your consent where the law requires it.
Who processes it for us
We use a small set of service providers, each only for its job: Amazon Web Services (sign-in and file storage), Vercel (hosting), Neon (database), Polar (payments, as merchant of record), PostHog (product analytics), and Google (AI models behind roadmaps and Daisy). Your data may be processed in the United States. We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to show you the data we hold about you, correct it, or delete your account and data. If you are in the EU or UK, the GDPR also gives you the right to:
- Receive a copy of your data in a portable format.
- Object to, or ask us to restrict, a particular use of your data.
- Withdraw consent at any time, where consent is the basis we rely on.
- Complain to your data protection authority.
Exercising them
Write to support@hobbing.ai from your account email and we will act on it within 30 days, usually much sooner. Deleting your account removes your profile, progress, posts, and messages; records we must keep for legal or accounting reasons (like payment records held by Polar) are kept only as long as the law requires.
Retention and children
We keep your data while your account is active and delete it when you ask us to close it. Hobbing is not directed at children under 13: signing up asks for the year you were born, an answer below that age is refused, and we do not knowingly collect a younger child's data.
If you believe a child under 13 has an account here, write to support@hobbing.ai and we will close it and delete what it holds.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will say so in the app before the change takes effect. The date at the top is the version you are reading.
